MOUNT DESERT — “Transpecos,” a film produced by seasonal Northeast Harbor resident, Nancy Schafer, will be shown at The Neighborhood House on Friday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m.
Taking place over the course of a single day, “Transpecos” tells the story of three U.S. Border Patrol agents and the life-changing events caused by what should have been a routine vehicle inspection gone awry. The trio quickly finds themselves abandoning the line between Texas and Mexico to grapple with the far less defined line between right and wrong.
The film, which made its debut at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival, earned the festival’s audience award and has since garnered critical praise from the likes of “Variety,” “The Hollywood Reporter” and other media outlets.
Schafer will be on hand for the screening to provide remarks regarding the film and its production, with a public reception immediately following. Suggested admission is $10 per person, with proceeds benefiting The Neighborhood House. The content of the film is best suited for older audience members.
