MOUNT DESERT — “Timber” Tina Scheer and her mighty crew of lumberjacks will hurl axes and wield chainsaws on the field of Camp Beech Cliff on July 22 at 6 p.m.
After spending the week as guest instructors for specialty campers, Scheer and her crew will celebrate the Maine lumberjacking tradition in a public performance of the season’s first Family Fun Friday event at CBC: Timber Tina’s Great Maine Lumberjack Show.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. for a community picnic. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket and picnic basket, or food and refreshments will be available for purchase. The performance will begin at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join in this thrilling Maine experience, complete with chainsaw carving and racing, chopping, axe-throwing and more. After the show, the audience can try their hand at some of these lumberjacking traditions.
A suggested donation of $5 per individual and $15 per family supports Camp Beech Cliff, a nonprofit summer camp and year-round outdoor education and recreation center located at 264 Beech Hill Road. Visit www.campbeechcliff.org or call 244-0365.
