SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Griffin Dill will provide information on preventing tick and mosquito bites when he speaks at the Southwest Harbor Public Library on Tuesday, June 14, at 5:30 p.m.
Diseases transmitted by ticks and mosquitoes are becoming an increasingly important concern for those spending time outdoors. Dill’s presentation will provide information on the basic biology, life cycle and distribution of ticks and mosquitoes in Maine and will cover management and personal protection strategies for avoiding these potential health threats.
Dill is an integrated pest management professional with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. He coordinates the University of Maine’s Tick Identification Program and is currently working on a doctorate in tick ecology.
