BAR HARBOR — Andrea Lepcio will teach a pair of writing workshops at the YWCA MDI on Saturday, March 24, at 1 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 28, at 5:30 p.m., leading up to a Support Women Artists Now Day Slam at the Jesup Memorial Library on Saturday, March 31, at 1:30 p.m.
Each workshop participant will be asked to focus on the work of a female author from Maine that inspires him or her. Once an author is chosen, Lepcio will provide writing prompts, and each participant will write in response and develop their own pieces. The final piece will be read at the SWAN Day Slam at the library. Everyone is invited to participate in the workshops. No registration is required.
Lepcio is the playwright of “Looking for the Pony,” a finalist for the Dramatists Guild Hull-Warriner Award and for the NEA Outstanding New American Play Award. It was presented in a “Rolling World Premiere” Off-Broadway at Vital Theatre Company in New York and Synchronicity Theatre in Atlanta and subsequent productions.
She is a member of the Dramatists Guild, was a Dramatists Guild Fellow and served as the Dramatists Guild Fellows Program Director for 10 years. She has a master’s in dramatic writing from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s in human ecology from College of the Atlantic.
