SOUTHWEST HARBOR — A benefit supper with live music will be held at the Legion Hall on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 6-9 p.m. to help Bill Morrison.
Morrison, founding chef of the Common Good, was hospitalized in early October for congestive heart failure. Money raised will support his recovery after he is released from the hospital and before he can go back to work. Morrison cooks at the University of Maine at Orono and hopes to move back to Southwest Harbor and find work there if possible.
The Common Good program was born in the heart, mind and kitchen of Morrison in the hard-scrabble winter of 2009. It has now grown into a unique grass-roots organization that serves our community by bringing people together and providing delicious and nutritious community meals in the winter It funds itself largely through its popover service in the summer.
