Steve Perrin bares soul of Acadia

BAR HARBOR — Author Steve Perrin will talk about his consummate trail book when he visits the Jesup Memorial Library for a book talk and signing on Thursday, June 9, at 7 p.m.

“Acadia: The Soul of a National Park” details what birds and flowers he saw and what trees, wildlife and vistas he met on 60 different hikes in the park. Reading it is like being there with him to discover wildlife tracks in the snow, fall colors, spring streams and waterfalls, summer blooms and berries. With this book, readers take not only their own memories of trails and carriage roads with them, but memories of other trails they might have hiked if they’d had the time.

Perrin has written and illustrated four of his six books are about the trails, flowers, terrain and wildlife of Mount Desert Island. He is a founding member of both Friends of Taunton Bay and Frenchman Bay Conservancy and is the manager of Burying Island LLC. His passion is protecting conservation values Down East.

Books will be on sale at the Jesup that night with a percentage of sales donated to the library. Sherman’s and Machias Savings Bank are co-sponsors of this event.
