Steel drum concert to honor fathers

BAR HARBOR — The annual Father’s Day Concert will be held in Agamont Park on Sunday, June 19, from 5-7 p.m.

Flash! In the Pans steel drum band will provide their signature family-friendly music to which all fathers and their families should come and dance.

“We are extremely pleased to once again provide a fun event for families this Father’s Day,” said Martha Searchfield, executive director of the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of the event. “Seeing dads and their kids dancing together while overlooking Frenchman Bay is always a sure sign that summer is here.”

During the concert’s intermission, the Acadia Arts Achievement Award will be presented to 2016 winners Russell and Linda D’Alessio. Integral to the Bar Harbor art community, The D’Alessios are owners of D’Alessio Gallery in Bar Harbor and have been instrumental in Downtown Bar Harbor’s First Friday Art Walks. The award is presented annually by the Downtown Art Walks Committee.

In the event of rain, the concert will be held at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church, 29 Mount Desert St.
