BAR HARBOR — The Acadia Choral Society, under the direction of Daniel Pyle, will perform at St. Saviour’s Church on Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 4, at 3p.m. There will also be a performance in Ellsworth on Sunday, May 5, at 3 p.m. at the Ellsworth High School auditorium.
The program includes Schubert’s Mass No. 2 in G Major, Hindemith’s Six Chansons, madrigals from the 16th century and an arrangement of “O Danny Boy.”
The Hindemuth Chansons which are based on poems by Rainer Maria Rilke; each short poem is a reflection on love and beauty in nature.
Pyle is serving as the guest director for the Acadia Choral Society, joined by accompanist Christina Spurling. He is the organist and choir director at St. Saviour’s Church. He conducts the annual performance of Handel’s Messiah for Blue Hill Bach, and also plays harpsichord for the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.
