Soup with substance

MOUNT DESERT — A new monthly Soup with Substance dinner and discussion program will be hosted by the Seaside United Church of Christ (formerly UCC of Northeast Harbor and Seal Harbor) at the Northeast Harbor Parish Hall, 21 Summit Road, on Tuesday, April 11. The simple catered meal begins at 4:30 p.m., and the program follows at 5 p.m.

Physician Assistant Jane Tawney will speak about the January’s Women’s March at this first dinner. She joined more than 5 million people worldwide and over 1 million in Washington, D.C.

Tawney, who works in the MDI Hospital’s Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center, has been a PA for almost 40 years. She began working in women’s health and for reproductive rights in 1972.

The Soup with Substance series aims to create conversation and dialogue around issues of particular concern for Mount Desert Island and its role within our global community. There is no charge. Childcare is provided.
