Silk painting workshops set

ELLSWORTH — Mount Desert Island artist Jeanne Seronde Perkins will lead a silk painting workshop at the Woodlawn Museum on Saturday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Using lush fabric colors, wax and water-based resist on thin white silk, participants will have a chance to play with colors to make their own silk scarf or banner.

Perkins has been making art on Mount Desert Island for close to 30 years. She specializes in batik and mosaic collage. Her work is exhibited in Maine, other states in the U.S. and abroad, and is in over 100 private collections.

The cost is $75 for Woodlawn members and $85 for nonmembers and includes all materials. As space is limited, pre-registration is required.
