Robinson Ballet brings ‘Nutcracker’ back to The Grand

ELLSWORTH — The Robinson Ballet will perform the Tchaikovsky classic “The Nutcracker” at The Grand on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m.

From E.T.A. Hoffmann’s story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King,” Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky created this seminal holiday classic. One of Tchaikovsky’s most famous compositions, the ballet concerns a young German girl who dreams of a nutcracker prince and a fierce battle against a mouse king. The score is sure to warm the hearts of everyone as the familiar, iconic melodies from the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” to the “Russian Dance” are played. In this production of the timeless family favorite, The Robinson Ballet brings the professionalism that is associated with a company of dancers that has a 30-plus-year teaching and performing legacy in Maine.

Tickets cost $17 for adults and seniors, $15 for members and $8 for youths 12 and under. All seats are reserved. Performances are often sold out, so reservations should be made early. Call the box office at 667-9500, visit www.grandonline.org or follow The Grand on Facebook.
