BAR HARBOR — The first concert in a Young Audience Concert Series produced by the Bar Harbor Music Festival will take place at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church on Wednesday, July 6, at 1:30 p.m. with Boston-based brass quintet Brass Venture.
The aspiring young musicians attending this concert are in store for a special treat, as Eric Ewazen, composer-in-residence at the Juilliard School, will introduce his new work commissioned by the festival, “Acadia,” celebrating the centennial of Acadia National Park, which will have its world premiere performance that evening.
Other performances in the series will be by pianist Christopher Johnson at the Jesup Memorial Library on Saturday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. and Antonio Galera Lopez at the Jesup on Saturday, July 16, at 10:30 a.m.
Jesup Memorial Library concerts are free. Brass Venture and the open rehearsal are $5 for students and $10 for adults.
These programs are made possible in part by a grant from the Hattie A. and Fred C. Lynam Trust.
