Public Spaces exhibit opens

MOUNT DESERT — “Modern Maine/Artists,” a new exhibit curated by Art in Public Spaces, features the distinct styles of 11 Maine artists throughout August at the Northeast Harbor Library.

A wide range of themes – flowers, abstracts, winter, windows, planes, trains, fog, mountains, trucks and crows – is presented in work by contemporary artists Nicole Herz, Liddy Hubbell, R. Scott Baltz, Stefan Eliott, Roberta Sprague, Jon Ho, Ben Lincoln, Michael C Rosenstein, Ed Nadeau, Cathy Rees and Holly Meade. All the work is for sale with 20 percent going to the library.

“Modern Maine/Artists” runs through Aug. 30. A reception to meet the artists and see the work will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 6:30 p.m. Call the library at 276-3333 or contact Art in Public Spaces at [email protected].
