SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Maine authors Lynn Plourde and Paul Janeczko will be on hand to sign copies of their books at Island Readers & Writers’ (IRW) pop-up bookshop at the Pemetic Green on Friday, July 20.
From 9 to 11 a.m., Plourde will sign copies of her Maine Student Book Award winner, “Maxi’s Secrets,” and picture book “Wake Up, Baby Bear.”
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Janeczko will sign copies of “Firefly July,” a collection of poetry he edited along with Maine illustrator Melissa Sweet, and “Top Secret,” a nonfiction book about secrets and codes throughout history. These titles will be available for purchase at the pop-up.
“The pop-up bookshop is a great opportunity for families to meet children’s book authors and encourage summer reading,’” said IRW Executive Director Jan Coates. “Bringing readers together with books and their creators inspires readers of all ages.” The pop-up bookshop will travel to the Northeast Harbor Village Green from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16.
IRW is a nonprofit organization based in Southwest Harbor that brings children’s book authors, illustrators and other book-centered experiences to schools and communities on the outer islands and in Washington County.
