ELLSWORTH — The 25th Poinsettia Ball will take place at the Ellsworth Ramada on Saturday, Dec. 3.
Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit new 3D mammographic imaging technology at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Research has shown 3D digital mammography finds significantly more invasive breast cancers and reduces the number of false alarms. Doctors are calling it a significant breakthrough in the battle against breast cancer. Almost $800,000 has been raised from the Poinsettia Ball since its inception, with all of those funds benefitting patient care at the hospital.
Silver bells will ring to celebrate the ball’s silver anniversary. Red poinsettias will adorn the 16-foot-tall tree that gives this event its name. The meal will be presented by Chipper’s Restaurant and Catering. Long-term partners for this event are presenting sponsors R.H. Foster Energy LLC and Machias Savings Bank.
Tickets and sponsorships are available at www.mainehospital.org or by calling 664-5311, ext. 2305. Anyone interested in volunteering should call the same number.
