MOUNT DESERT — The Northeast Harbor Library will host a three-part poetry series by Candace Stover on April 15, April 24 and May 1 from 5-7 p.m.
This is the fourth year Stover has led the workshop. This year’s theme will be “Crossing Borders, Finding Bridges: Poetry in Translation.” The workshop offers close reading and discussion of selected poems from Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Latin America. Participants also have “the chance to meet one another on and off the page and discover more about who and where we are,” organizers said.
Stover is a Maine native who lives in Somesville and is currently an adjunct faculty member at the College of the Atlantic. She previously taught at Antioch University, the Seattle Academy of the Arts and Sciences, the University of New Hampshire and Phillips Exeter Academy. She has also worked as a reporter for the Boston Globe.
Her poems have been published in the Beloit Poetry Journal, Hope magazine, the Puckerbush Review, and The Christian Science Monitor, among others.
