Oscar Night offers laughs

BAR HARBOR — The annual Oscar Night event and costume contest at Reel Pizza is set for Sunday, Feb. 24 beginning at 6 p.m., with a few new twists.

The event, which includes screening of red carpet interviews and the awards ceremony with live commentary by ImprovAcadia, is now a benefit for the Kristen Klint Arts Fund (KKAF).

The fund was created in honor of the late Klint, who was co-owner of the Lompoc Cafe. KKAF grants support Mount Desert Island girls and women in pursuit of self-expression through arts education and creative endeavors. An art exhibit on display in the Reel Pizza lobby throughout February showcases the work of previous KKAF grant recipients.

Tickets are $20 each, or $35 for two. One ticket includes hors d’oeuvre, champagne toast, cake, a photo booth and more.

The doors open at 6 p.m. and the live show starts at 7 p.m. Regular movies at Reel Pizza that day will be shown at 1 p.m.

“Bar Harbor’s show will surpass Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, thanks to colorful commentary by ImprovAcadia’s Dorcas and Olive,” organizers said, “who are ready for anything, and fear nothing.”

Tickets are available at Reel Pizza and at Spruce & Gussy, 12 Mount Desert Street.
