Night sky art wanted

BAR HARBOR — Submissions to the Acadia Night Sky Festival poster artwork contest are being accepted through April 2.

“The winning image should portray the area in a recognizable way, with celestial objects included in the composition,” said Alf Anderson of the marketing committee. The winning image also should be original, depict Acadia and Down East Maine’s stellar night sky and be high resolution. Photographers and artists over the age of 18 are welcome to enter.

The winning image will be featured on the 2017 festival poster, brochure, website and other marketing materials. The artist will receive two round-trip tickets between Bar Harbor and Boston courtesy of Cape Air.

The Acadia Night Sky Festival is a community celebration to promote the protection and enjoyment of Down East and Acadia’s stellar night sky as a valuable natural resource through education, science and the arts.
