New shows open at The Barn

TREMONT — Two teams of Barn Arts Collective resident artists will perform at The Barn, 130 Tremont Road, on Thursday and Saturday, July 14 and 16.

Forge, a New York City-based company that produced last year’s “Richard II” at The Barn, will perform “Farewell, King” on Thursday, July 14, at 8 p.m. and on Saturday, July 16, at 3 p.m.

This reworking of Shakespeare’s play gives the audience the chance to choose who plays the king each night and experience how this stirring tragedy falls differently on every head that wears the hollow crown.

Also in residence is Sam Tower + Ensemble, a dance theater company based in Philadelphia. The company is developing a piece called “Strange Tenants,” a dance theater psycho thriller that investigates the bizarre ways that inherited experience inhabits our bodies. The ensemble will perform at The Barn on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Also, the Sam Tower + Ensemble will perform a roaming, immersive piece at the Southwest Harbor Library as part of the Family Concert Series on Thursday, July 14, at 6:30 p.m.

All shows are by donation. Visit www.barnartscollective.com or call 412-9435.
