TREMONT — Two different teams of artists are developing new shows at the Barn Arts Collective that will play one time, only on Friday and Saturday, July 22 and 23.
The New York Neo-Futurists are in residence at the Barn working on a new piece called “The Great American Drama,” which will engage the audience in performance. The piece, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, is described as a living, ever-changing theatrical experiment to test the validity of the American Dream.
Also in residence is the Women in Combat Theatre Project, a team of artists developing a new show called “We Cry Havoc.” The ensemble is writing this physical theater piece collaboratively. It explores the inclusion of women in combat roles in the U.S. military. The artists recently were in residence at the Stonington Opera House in Deer Isle and will continue the development of the piece on Mount Desert Island throughout the week. “We Cry Havoc” will play at The Barn Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Barn is located at 130 Tremont Rd. across the street from the Tremont Consolidated School. All shows are by donation. Visit www.barnartscollective.com or call 412-9435.
