National park guidebook author to speak

BAR HARBOR — James Kaiser will talk about some of his most exciting adventures photographing national parks across the country and will show slides at the Jesup Memorial Library on Tuesday, July 12, at 7 p.m.

In 2000, after graduating from college, Kaiser published the first edition of “Acadia: The Complete Guide.” It quickly became the bestselling guidebook to Acadia National Park. The fourth edition was published in March 2016. Now, Kaiser has written four more guidebooks to some of America’s most popular national parks.

Kaiser will go behind the scenes of each excursion, discussing photography and safety in some of the world’s most remote national parks.

Kaiser has written guidebooks to Acadia National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park and Costa Rica. His books have sold over 150,000 copies, and the guides to Acadia, Yosemite, Grand Canyon and Joshua Tree have been the bestselling guidebooks at their respective national parks.

This talk is part of the Cadillac Mountain Sports Speaker Series at the Jesup. The next Cadillac Mountain Sports talk is on Tuesday, July 26, at 7 p.m. with Allison Caine, who will speak about her research in remote parts of Peru.
