Morgan Callan Rogers to call on Jesup

BAR HARBOR — Morgan Callan Rogers, author of “Red Ruby Heart in a Cold Blue Sea,” will promote her new book, “Written on My Heart,” at the Jesup Memorial Library on Thursday, May 19, at 7 p.m.

Callan Rogers returns to the story of Florine Gilham, whom she introduced in “Red Ruby Heart, in “Written on My Heart.” Gilham is set to begin her life with husband Bud Warner on The Point, the Maine fishing village where they grew up. But Florine is drawn back into the past and the mystery surrounding the disappearance of her mother, Carlie.

As unexpected clues regarding Carlie’s fate begin to surface, Florine and Bud face the challenges of trying to solve an old mystery while building a new marriage and raising a family.

Ellen Baker, author of “Keeping the House,” said, “I loved Morgan Callan Rogers’s ‘Red Ruby Heart in a Cold Sea,’ and I loved the chance to catch up with the magnificent Florine in the wonderful ‘Written on My Heart.’ Florine’s unmistakable voice, her approach to the challenges of raising a young family on the rugged coast of Maine and her search for why her mother vanished years earlier make for an unputdownable novel about love in its many forms that will linger long after you’ve turned the last page.”

Callan Rogers grew up in Bath. Before writing “Red Ruby Heart in a Cold Blue Sea,” she worked as a librarian, a journalist, an actress, an editor and a teacher. She has a bachelor’s in English and a master’s in creative writing from the University of Southern Maine. Callan Rogers lives in Portland. Visit
