Memphis Belles to perform for The Grand

ELLSWORTH — The Memphis Belles, with Dana Ross, will return to The Grand for one show only in a fundraising event for the theater on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m.

The Belles – Darlene Mogul, Pat Cummings and Penny Weinstein – began performing together in 1990 at a New Year’s Eve benefit for the American Red Cross in which the theme was a WWII U.S.O. show. The women were cast to form an Andrews Sisters-style trio to be called “The Memphis Belles” in honor of the World War II American B-17 Bomber known as the first to fly 25 successful missions without the loss of a single crew member.

Since then, The Memphis Belles have performed throughout Maine with their tight harmonies and sunny singing style. The Grand also will offer an array of decadent desserts before the show, as well as during intermission, that can be purchased by donation.

General admission tickets cost $15 for adults/seniors, $12 for Grand members and $8 for those 12 and under. Call the box office at 667-9500, visit or follow The Grand on Facebook.
