BAR HARBOR — Maxx Meether and Friends will perform Sunday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Jesup Memorial Library to kick off of the Sundays at the Jesup Concert Series. The jazz ensemble includes Meether on the drums and Bailey Giles on the tenor saxophone. They have been playing together since they were in fifth grade.
Meether, who is from Hamden, Maine, has played the drums since the age of 11 and started playing jazz in middle school. He is currently enrolled in the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford studying jazz performance. While in Hartford, he plays at music venues such as Black-Eyed Sally’s, Real Art Ways, and Prospect Cafe. Giles is from Newburgh, Maine started playing the saxophone in the fifth grade. He is in his second year at the University of Southern Maine and is studying music performance. In Southern Maine, he has played at One Longfellow Square and Blue as well as the Stone Mountain Arts Center.
The Jesup’s 2019 Winter Concert Series which features concerts once a month on a Sunday, December through April. The next concert in the series is on Sunday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. with George Rossi, who will be playing music from the 60s to today on harmonica and guitar.
All concerts are free and open to the public and donations are gratefully accepted.
