Winging it a rush for Improv founder

Improv Acadia comedians Jennifer Shepard, front, and Dennis Smith will bring their zany antics to the Mount Desert Island High School theater on Saturday, Jan. 25. The show starts at 6 p.m.

BAR HARBOR — After 20-plus years of making-it-up-as-you-go, improvisational comedian Jennifer Shepard still gets quite a thrill when she steps onto the stage.

“It’s rather nerve-wracking, and it feels exciting, especially when you have an audience that’s excited to be there,” Shepard says.

Shepard will join Improv Acadia veteran Dennis Smith and musical director Larrance Fingerhut for a special, one-night performance at Mount Desert Island High School on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. The show is a benefit for both the theater’s Black Rose renovation fund and a group of students heading to the Rainbow Ball in Machias this spring.

Entry to the Jan. 25 show is by donation.
