Train heads to pumpkin patch



ELLSWORTH — The Downeast Scenic Railroad Pumpkin Train will depart from the boarding platform at 245 Main St. on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

For this special 90-minute trip, each child will receive a free pumpkin and pumpkin decorating stickers with the purchase of a child’s train ticket. During the ride, the train will stop at our pumpkin patch so the kids can pick out a pumpkin and then decorate it during the ride. After everyone has picked their pumpkins, the whole family will enjoy the fall colors.

The Downeast Scenic Railroad is an all-volunteer not-for-profit excursion railroad located in Ellsworth and a project of the Downeast Rail Heritage Preservation Trust. Weekend excursions aboard vintage rail equipment travel on the historic Maine Shore Line/Calais Branch Rail Line. The mission of The Downeast Rail Heritage Preservation Trust is to celebrate and preserve the railroad history of Down East Maine for the education and enlightenment of future generations.
