Samba meets jazz

BAR HARBOR — Pioneer of Brazilian jazz Nilson Matta will be joined by world-renowned artists Claudio Roditi, Steve Wilson, Helen Sung, Bobby Sanabria and Café, as well as Bar Harbor’s own Mark Kanter, for a one-time performance at the Criterion Theatre on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Called a “powerhouse bass player” by “Downbeat,” Matta is one of the world’s foremost virtuosos on bass and a driving influence in the evolution of Brazilian jazz.

Tickets range from $15-20, with premium and balcony seating available. A full menu with beer and wine will be available.
