BAR HARBOR — Maine-born comedian Tim Hofmann and the Laugh Shack will bring their brand of club style comedy to Carmen Verandah, 119 Main St., on Friday, Oct. 9, at 9 p.m.
Over two years ago, Hofmann opened his home to his fellow Maine comedians. In his basement, which he dubbed the “Laugh Shack,” friends and comics would meet a few times a month to drink and laugh together. The basement shows grew popular and have since become a permanent comedy club with locations in Portland and Westbrook as well as numerous shows around the state.
This show’s headliner will be Michigan-based comedian Stu McCallister. McCallister has worked college crowds, pastor appreciation crowds (tough room), comedy clubs and bars. He talks mostly about his inadequacies in the dating world, how tough his name was for him as a child and his physical appearance.
McCallister will be joined by fellow Midwesterner Adam Degi. Clever and fearless, Degi makes a habit out of turning life’s negatives into positives in the form of stand-up.
The host for the evening will be Aharon Willows, one of the funniest and most interesting comics to come out of Portland over the last few years. An endearing oddball, Willows delivers deeply personal and embarrassing monologues that leave audiences simultaneously laughing with him and at him.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door, in advance at www.hofmanncomedy.com or by calling 288-2886. This event is for those ages 21 and up.
