Criterion hosts Maine Music Showcase

BAR HARBOR — Two of the most watched bands from the Pine Tree State take the stage at the historic 1932 Criterion Theatre in downtown Bar Harbor on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. for the Maine Music Showcase. The Mallett Brothers and Chris Ross & The North is a pairing that has worked well in other venues across the state and promises to do the same here.

Based out of Portland, The Mallett Brothers are known for lush songs, typically classified as Americana or folk but all with their own distinctive feel and tone influenced by heavy rock and psychedelic material. Visit www.mallettbrothersband.com.

Named the 2014 Songwriter of the Year at the New England Music Awards, Chris Ross has quickly developed a devoted following of fans drawn to his thoughtful lyrics and soulful vocals. Ross, a native of Hancock, is particularly excited to play this venue close to home. Visit www.chrisrossandthenorth.com.

The Criterion Theatre is a nonprofit theatre and movie house dedicated to bringing arts to Down East Maine. The “Maine Music Showcase” is the latest in a string of live musical performances brought to the venue in recent months. The Criterion intends to continue its live performance offerings throughout the year in addition to live theater and the movies for which they were first known.
