BAR HARBOR — The local Blake Rosso Band will open for Portland’s the Ghost of Paul Revere on Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Criterion Theatre.

Blake Rosso, Jim Coffman, Sig Eschholz and Beau Lisy came together two years ago to form this high-energy Americana group. The band started in Southwest Harbor when Rosso returned to Mount Desert Island after studying to become a chiropractor in Minnesota. Eschholz offered Rosso and his family a place to stay while they searched for a home. The pair started playing together, and soon after, Eschholz introduced Rosso to Coffman and Lisy. According to Rosso, “the rest is history.”

The band is well known locally, playing twice a month at the Side Street Café, as well at various venues and events on and around Mount Desert Island. The band was featured on the main stage at the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest and Regatta in October. Over the last year, the band has been working on original material that they will play at this event.

“We are excited to perform at the Criterion,” said Blake Rosso. “The Criterion is a beautiful theater that is an important part of our community. It’s great to get to perform on that stage, especially with such a talented group like the Ghost of Paul Revere.”

The Ghost of Paul Revere with the Blake Rosso Band will play one show on Saturday, Jan. 23. Doors will open at 8 p.m. The music starts at 9 p.m. General admission tickets are $16 for balcony, $12 for orchestra and $9 for students. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the theater or online at
