BAR HARBOR — St Saviour’s Episcopal Parish will present organists Julia Morris-Myers and Ellen Jones as part of the Summer Organ Series on Friday, Aug. 15, 12:15-1 p.m.
They will perform an all-American program of solos and duets for organ. Composers will range from William Selby, who worked at Boston’s King’s Chapel during the revolution, to Wilbur Held, who is celebrating his 100th birthday this month. The recital will conclude with a rousing rendition of “Stars and Stripes Forever,” made even more exciting by the performers attempts to share the organ bench, keyboards and pedal board.
Julia Morris-Myers is organist and choirmaster at St. Saviour’s and teaches piano. Ellen Jones is the Director of Music at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Athens, Tenn.
The Summer Organ Series is made possible by the generous support of St. Saviour’s Friends of Music. Admission to the recitals is by donation, and a reception will follow to meet the artists. The church is handicapped accessible.
