Live portraiture

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Local artist Judy Taylor will sketch a portrait of local novelist Christina Baker Kline live at the Southwest Harbor Public Library on Friday, Aug. 16 at 5:30 p.m.

Taylor specializes in landscape and portraiture. Her paintings are exhibited in galleries across the island and around the country.

Kline is the bestselling author of “Orphan Train,” part of which takes place on Mount Desert Island, and “A Piece of the World,” inspired by the artist Andrew Wyeth’s relationship with the subject of his best-known painting, “Christina’s World.”

Taylor will answer questions once she comes to a stopping point in the process of creating the portrait. The event will conclude with light refreshments.
