Lantern makers wanted

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — In preparation for its lantern walk on Nov. 18, the Southwest Harbor Public Library invites all to come make lanterns on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 3-5 p.m. Supplies will be provided, but anyone with a tall, wide-mouth jar should bring it.

The lantern walk, an observance of the changing season and a celebration of the darkening days, will take place on Friday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. Participants will meet at the High Road parking lot in Southwest Harbor and walk down Causeway Lane with their lanterns lit. On the Causeway Bridge, there will be time for a seasonal story. After the walk, around 6:30 p.m., everyone is invited back to the library for a simple meal of soup and bread. Bring your own place setting.

Anyone who can help in any way should call Susan Plimpton, children’s librarian, at 244-7065. This is a fun family event. All are welcome.
