Island Quilters hosts annual show

MOUNT DESERT — The Island Quilters’ 23rd annual quilt show will be held at the Somesville Fire House on Saturday, May 28, from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. Admission costs $3. Everyone will get a free potholder as long as supplies last.

As this is the centennial of Acadia National Park, the Island Quilters’ Guild is dedicating this show to Acadia. Our guild challenge project this year was to create a wall hanging representing “What Acadia means to me.” All of these pieces will be hung at the show, as will be many beautiful quilts.

For many years, the guild has constructed a quilt to be raffled to raise money for a local organization. This year’s quilt will be donated to At Home MDI, a group that provides essential services to the elderly so they can still live at home. Raffle tickets will be sold by At Home during the show.

Admission costs $3. Everyone will get a free potholder as long as supplies last. Items made by guild members will be for sale.
