TREMONT — An exploration of Newfoundland with Bill and Cookie Horner is the next winter travel talk at the Bass Harbor Memorial Library, 89 Bernard Road in Bernard, on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 5:30 p.m.
Over the past 13 years, the Horners have made seven trips to Newfoundland. What began as a chance encounter with three guides at a remote Labrador fishing lodge resulted in lasting friendships and an invitation to discover what their homeland was really like. The country offers a landscape very similar to Mount Desert Island’s, although magnified many times.
The Horners have “hiked many miles of trails, fished for salmon, marveled at mountainous icebergs, enjoyed hours of music, seen an abundance of moose and caribou and made many friends,” according to a press release.
