Hill wins ‘Art on Deck’ award

BAR HARBOR — Prospect Harbor artist Nancy J. Hill’s painting “Sunrise over Schoodic Harbor” took the Marie D. Carr award at the 11th annual “Art on Deck” fine art show on June 19.

Hosted jointly by Galyn’s and the Argosy Gallery, this year’s show attracted nearly 150 people, including seven artists who mingled easily with the crowd discussing their art.

“Celebrating Acadia” was the theme of this year’s show. The 30 paintings on display captured the beauty of the Acadia region. More than 130 ballots were cast for Best in Show. In addition to Hill’s first-place showing, Ronal Parlin’s “Point of Summer” received second-place honors. Tying for third place were Jana Matusz’s “Perpendicular Start” and Scott Moore’s “Shadow on the Sea.”

In celebration of Acadia’s Centennial, Galyn’s made a $500 donation to the Acadia Centennial Fund in Hill’s honor.
