TREMONT — Fiber artist Mary Hays will be the featured artist at the Bass Harbor Memorial Library for the month of September.
Featured in the “Visions of Acadia” show will be pieces showing Penobscot Mountain, Monument Cove, Acadia night sky, Jordan Pond and others.
Hays, a Bass Harbor resident, has been creating scenes of Acadia and the Mount Desert Island area since 2011 after being inspired by the work of the late Patty Wharton.
In 2016, her creation Cobble Bridge was selected by “Rug Hooking” magazine as one of the best pieces of the year and was featured in the largest gathering of rug hookers in the United States that year in Ohio. In their evaluation of the piece, the judges cited the “perfectly executed cobblestones” and that “the most exciting part is the rushing water.”
The Bass Harbor Memorial Library, 89 Bernard Road, is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
