Hayneses to play at coffeehouse

MOUNT DESERT — The last First Friday Coffeehouse of the 16th season will take place at the Northeast Harbor Library on April 6.

The evening will begin with an open mic session at 7 p.m. Blue Gene is the master of ceremonies. All performing artists are welcome to participate. They should sign in on the clipboard to reserve about 10 minutes at the mic.

Bill and Dan Haynes will perform in the featured program, which begins at 8 p.m. Once a week for about 30 years, Bill and Dan Haynes have played together at the Haynes Garage. Bill Haynes plays guitar, and Dan Haynes plays bass. They play covers for American folk, bluegrass, blues and classic rock and blues using electrified acoustic instruments.

They like Jerry Garcia, Steve Earle, Peter Rowan, Guy Clark, and Dan Haynes especially likes jazz. While Bill Haynes has retired from Haynes Bros. Carpentry and now lives in Bernard, Dan Haynes is employed as head mechanic at Haynes Garage.

This event is free of charge. Refreshments in support of the MDES Greenhouse will be on sale throughout the evening.
