‘Haunted Woods’ opens for Halloween

TREMONT — “The Haunted Woods,” a site-specific Halloween event, will be produced by the Barn Arts Collective in Seal Cove on Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, at 9 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m.

The show, created by Brendan O’Keefe and developed with over a dozen Barn Arts collaborators, will be performed on seven acres of wooded property on Backfield Rd., off of Route 102 in Tremont.

Audiences will navigate through the woods to encounter a full cast of characters inhabiting a world that has been transformed by a mysterious power. The interactive performance features several different zones or “lairs,” including the Lost Village, the Goblin Kingdom and the Eternal Fire.

“We connected with so many audience members through “The Rocky Horror Show” last year, and we wanted to make sure that there was a Barn Arts show for Halloween on MDI this year,” said Andrew Simon, Barn Arts co-founder. “Brendan has been developing this piece for almost two years.”

The various lairs of “The Haunted Woods” allow each person to experience the show differently, while also making it accessible to audience members of all ages. Some lairs are kid-friendly, while others will be frightening enough to make them appropriate for adults only.

Reservations for “The Haunted Woods” can be made at barnartscollective.com or by calling 412-9435. A donation of $10 is suggested. Parking is available at Seal Cove Storage, 1462 Tremont Rd., next to Backfield Road.
