BAR HARBOR — Maine band GoldenOak will headline The Criterion Theatre’s Maine Music Festival, an event celebrating local talent, on Friday, Sept. 23, at 8 p.m.
With Zak Kendall (guitar, lead vocals), Lena Kendall (percussion, lead vocals), Seth Wagner (cello, vocals) and Eloise Schultz (trumpet, vocals), GoldenOak is emerging as a folk, genre-blending staple in the New England music scene.
Their upcoming Criterion performance is a kind of homecoming. Three members attended College of the Atlantic, and their debut album, “Pleasant St.,” was recorded during a quiet spring in Bar Harbor.
“We are always excited when we get a chance to play in Bar Harbor. The place and the people have certainly made it feel like one of our homes, and the Criterion has become one of our favorite spots to share our music,” the group said.
The band has toured around New England stages during 2016, including Portland’s One Longfellow Square, Kennebunkport Fest, Port City Music Hall (with Jeremy Loops) and Rockwood Music Hall in New York City.
“The Maine Music Festival is an opportunity for our community to come together at the start of the fall and celebrate the local artists that we are lucky to have from our state,” said Director Heather Martin. “We are thrilled to welcome back GoldenOak to the Criterion stage.”
Tickets are $15 for all seats, $12 students and can be purchased online at www.criteriontheatre.org or at the box office an hour before show time.
