TREMONT — A series of plays called “The Giants” will be presented by The Barn Arts Collective on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. The piece is written by Matthew Jellison and directed by Isaac Klein, both in residence this week developing their new work.
“The Giants” is an expanding theater project currently made up of plays that examine the big and the small and personal relationships between family and loved ones. The plays feature giants that live and play amongst skyscrapers and turn into mountains when they feel loss. Two plays in the series were produced earlier this year in New York City, and the artists will develop the new work at The Barn ahead of a future production of the third play and of the entire series.
The following evening, the Barn Arts Collective will present “The Incredible Dinner Show,” a fundraiser that will take the form of a five-course meal and a five-act show. All of the proceeds will support the community and educational work of the organization, as it transitions to a nonprofit organization.
Admission to “The Giants” is by donation. “The Incredible Dinner Show” is on Saturday night at 7 p.m. and tickets are $50. Reservations can be made at barnartscollective.com or by calling 412-9435. The Barn is located at 130 Tremont Rd. in Bass Harbor.
