Family dance party planned

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Local pop-rock band Bee Parks and the Hornets will play for a family dance party at the Southwest Harbor Public Library on Thursday, June 28, at 6:30 p.m., as part of the library’s summer Family Concert Series every Thursday evening.

The night will feature the debut of the Summer Story Camp theme song, written and performed by the campers themselves. All are welcome of any age.

“Bee Parks and the Hornets are an indie pop-rock band for younger and older ears. Based out of Mount Desert Island in Maine, they perform high-energy shows that combine original songs, puppetry and audience participation to inspire young people to get up and move — both with their feet and in their communities,” said a press release. Now in its 10th year, Summer Story Camp at the library was created to meet the academic needs of developing readers and writers, to inspire children to see literacy as a form of entertainment and self-expression, and to prevent skill loss over the summer.
