Exhibit to honor women’s history

TREMONT — The Bass Harbor Memorial Library will host a show of artwork by local island women from March 6 through April 19 as part of a larger celebration of Women’s History Month by island libraries.

Artists were asked to respond to a piece of writing, published or not, by a Maine woman. The writing ranges from cookbooks, to poetry, ballads and novels.

An artists’ reception will be held on Thursday, March 8, from 6-7:30 p.m. The reception includes refreshments, hors d’oeuvres and live music with Ryan Blotnik and Danny Fisher

On Thursday, March 15, from 5:30-7 p.m., the library will hold a paint-and-sip inspired family art night, with a parent and child team creating artwork inspired by Maine author and artist Dahlov Ipcar. Pizza, snacks and refreshments will be served at this relaxed and social family event. Space is limited to 10 groups of two. Call 244-3798 or email [email protected] to reserve a spot.

Events are being added and updated weekly. Visit bassharborlibrary.com or find the library on Facebook.
