BAR HARBOR — On Saturday, April 17, The Whole Health Center in Bar Harbor will sponsor an online workshop with Michelle Johnson titled Dismantling Racism. Johnson is a social worker and an activist who has led these trainings in schools, corporations, and various community groups (and as a TEDx speaker) for over 20 years. She is the author of “Skill in Action” and the soon-to-be-published “Finding Refuge: Heart Work for Healing Collective Grief.”
The Zoom workshop will run from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1-3 p.m. It is designed to foster recognition of personal and cultural patterns of racism, oppression, power and privilege and to explore how to respond to current cultural challenges through practices of self-study, contemplation and collective action. As a yoga and mindfulness trainer, Johnson also brings awareness exercises of heart and head to the process of healing and insight.
The Whole Health Center is a nonprofit counseling, education and holistic health center founded in Bar Harbor in 1981. More about the workshop, as well as registration information, is available at www.thewholehealthcenter.org.
