BAR HARBOR — Performers from the Bar Harbor Music Festival will play a concert in their Young Audience Concert Series at the Jesup Memorial Library on Saturday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. with Christopher Johnson.
Johnson’s program consists of music by Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy and Gershwin, along with other composers. All concerts in the series at the Jesup are free and open to the public. The second concert in the series will be on Saturday, July 16, at 10:30 a.m. with Antonio Galera Lopez.
Deborah Fortier is the director of the 2016 Young Audience Series. Tom Crikelair and Sara Jones are the community coordinators. The Bar Harbor Music Festival, now celebrating its 50th anniversary, is committed to exposing youths to the talent of the festival’s artists. It is the festival’s hope that this interaction will inspire young musicians in the audience to new heights in their musical endeavors, as well as introduce all young people, musicians or not, to the language and the joy of music. These programs are made possible in part by a grant from the Hattie A. and Fred C. Lynam Trust.
