Cézanne documentary to be screened

BAR HARBOR — “Cézanne, Portraits of a Life,” part of the art documentary master series Exhibition on Screen, will be shown at The Criterion Theatre on Sunday, April 15, at 7 p.m. The screening is sponsored by ArtWaves community art center.

Featuring interviews with curators and experts from the National Portrait Gallery London, MoMA New York, National Gallery of Art Washington and Musée d’Orsay Paris, and correspondence from the artist himself, the film takes audiences beyond the exhibition to the places Cézanne lived and worked and sheds light on the artist.

There will be a “gallery reception” beginning at 5:30 p.m. the day of the show with champagne and refreshments. General admission tickets cost $8. Visit criteriontheatre.org. The ArtWaves event calendar will list related workshops and events.

The 1932 Criterion Theatre is Bar Harbor’s nonprofit historic performing arts and movie house. Visit criteriontheatre.org.
