ELLSWORTH — “The Amazing Grays,” a concert of Celtic music and an art show, will take place at The Grand on Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. to raise money for the Gray family of Southwest Harbor, who have encountered a series of medical misfortunes requiring frequent trips to Boston for specialty care.
The Gray family consists of Jim and Beckie Gray and their son, Chris. All of them are musicians, Beckie Gray on an Irish drum called the bodhran; Jim Gray on a variety of percussion and stringed instruments; and Chris Gray, on the Great Highland bagpipes, the Uillean pipes, Irish whistles and percussion instruments.
Among the musical guests will be Gus La Casse, a local fiddle player; Sonas, a local band featuring Jennifer and Josh Torrance and Nancy Neff; Chris Brinn, a piano accordionist from Searsmont; Jeff Morgan, a multi-instrumentalist from Verona Island who played at the Philadelphia Folk Festival and been a featured performer at Lincoln Center; Daryne Rockett, a Celtic harper, singer and songwriter performing her “Maine Redemption Song” and many others.
Artwork by Chris Gray, Rosanne Barnes, Jeff Morgan, Daryne Rockett and Beth Whitney of Jersey City, N.J., will be on display and for sale.
Admission costs $20, cash or check made payable to James Gray.
