BAR HARBOR — A book launch for Randi Minetor’s “Birding New England: A Field Guide to the Birds of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont” will be help at the Jesup Memorial Library on Wednesday, May 29, at 7 p.m.
The book includes a section on birding technology and features detailed advice on equipment, identification techniques, birding ‘by ear,’ field guides, optics and other essentials. For each bird, there are descriptions of behaviors including feeding, flight, courting and breeding, nesting, and migration, which helps readers not just identify the bird but also know more about what it is doing at the time.
Each listing features GPS coordinates for up to six locations where the bird can be found. The guide features 320 different species of birds and is illustrated with more than 500 color photos.
