TREMONT — If anyone doubts that residents of Mount Desert Island’s “Quietside” know how to throw a party, they might want to stop by the Bass Harbor Days celebration Saturday at Gordius Garage.
This is the seventh year of the annual summer party for Tremont and its neighbors. As in the past, there will be food, drink, live music and an antique car and motorcycle show. The event is sponsored by Gordius Garage and seven other local businesses: John Goodwin Jr. Construction, Classic Boat Shop, Bass Harbor Boat House, Bass Harbor Boat Shop, Coastal Computers, MDI Property Management and H.G. Reed.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food, which is available by donation, is to include roast pig, hamburgers and hot dogs.
Two bands are scheduled to perform. Little Rodeo goes on at 10 a.m., the Crown Vics at 1 p.m.
The event attracts dozens of old cars and motorcycles ranging from stock antique vehicles to customized hot rods and muscle cars of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
In the past, Bass Harbor Days has been held the day before the Bass Harbor lobsterboat races. That was the intent this year, but confusion about the scheduling of the races resulted in that not happening, organizers said. The races were held June 26.
No fireworks are scheduled this year.
Gordius Garage is located on Harbor Drive near the Tremont Town Office.
