BAR HARBOR — Lynn Boulger and Tim Garrity will share photos and stories of their recent backpacking trip in the Normandy region of France Friday, April 26. at 7 p.m. at the Jesup Memorial Library.
The traveled the Grande Randonée 223 (GR 223), better known as “Sentier des Douaniers.” The GR 223 is a 227-mile coastal path that spans from Carentan to Mont-Saint-Michel in the Manche section of Normandy, on the western coast of France bordering the English Channel. Boulger and Garrity will talk about the historic sites they visited along the way, including several WWII landing beaches.
Boulger and Garrity have backpacked on six continents. Garrity is the executive director of the Mount Desert Island Historical Society and Boulger is the dean of advancement at the College of the Atlantic.
